What kind of feedback should your players get? For visual feedback, what will be visible during actual gameplay (in the sun)? If aural feedback is desired, what kind and how loud does it need to be?.If it’s code-based, who has the code and how do they get it? For a bomb mode, how do you want to disarm it? Is it a simple button press or is it a complex numeric code or is it by cutting wires? Think this through completely including how to implement the solution. How would you actually run your games? Where would the device be located, who would start the countdown, how would the teams interact with the device?.What game modes do you and your team enjoy?.However, during our testing, we realized that we needed tactile buttons since touchscreens don’t always work with gloves. Our very first idea was to use a cheap tablet or phone and run one of the apps that look like a fake bomb. What kind of game modes are you and your group likely to play and how are you going to implement those? For example, when we started, we really just wanted a bomb mode. In our case, we used AirTable and BitBucket to track ideas and goals. Tools like Trello, Asana or Google Docs can be extremely helpful. I’d suggest keeping some kind of notes on your ideas and decisions. The first step is to figure out what you want to build. The entire reason we decided to sell the Boom Box was that not everyone has the time to go through all of this, but if you’re up for a lot of trial and error and learning as you go, we hope this guide will help cut down on some of that time. So you want to build your own airsoft game prop? There are many good resources out there but I’m going to take the time to walk you through some of our resources, the steps we’ve taken and the lessons we’ve learned. We are still working on how to make a commercially viable DIY kit but the complexities of warranties and support make it a dicey proposition.
